Passion: Do You Know What Your’s Is

Passion: Do You Know What Your’s Is

I think one of the biggest catastrophes of modern society is the utter lack of passion in people. I had a conversation recently over lunch with my friend and we spoke of this very subject and she too noticed missing passion from folks.

Now we weren’t talking about the passion some of you perverts are thinking of. It used to be a big thing for everyone to tell each other what they were passionate about not necessarily for bragging right but to get them try things you were into. If you would talk to a devotee of any major evangelical religion they would the cornering speech of your life as to why you needed to find God and Jesus(BTW I’m a Secularizationist so don’t worry this is not going to be a Jesus Camp advertisement). What ever happened to these people or those who would try so hard to get you to join Amway by calling every night until you finally broke down and went to a circle drawing meeting.

“The way you get meaning into your life is to devote yourself to loving others, devote yourself to your community >around you, and devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning.” - Mitch Albom

The Crisis

I polled a few friends not that long ago and was slammed to the turf by their rejoins. I simply asked them what they were passionate about.

The most common answer was “uhhh… I dunno”, “I guess (fill in the blank)” and most surprisingly “I never really thought about it.” What the fuck was that? Nothing, are you kidding me. I mean at least have some passion for not wanting to ever disclose your passion. Something is better than nothing. What happened.

Can we blame the disposable society we live in? I would say no. Blaming society is too easy. Even with the 7-11 instant gratification mentality many folks still find a way to be passionate about things like “Charity Water”. Can we blame MTV and the over watched television crown, No because once again people are doing thing just not a large percentage.

Too many people think their contribution would not really make a difference. So rather then trying to make a contribution anyway they just crawl back into their respective domiciles and do nothing. This is the world we live in these days.

Food for thought

I have been passionate about many things and I changed causes like I changed underwear at one point in my life. I was still very motivated to make a change and make a difference none the less. I think could at least pick something and go for it. Part of the problem is we don’t teach our kids at home or in school about giving the gifts of charity any more.

Hundreds of books about tithing and charity have been written over the decades. Many explain the benefits of giving ten percent of all you earn as a way of making space for new money to come in. Some say you’ll get back in three folds what it is that you give away. My grandmother would tell us over and over again “If somebody steals your shirt offer them your coat too”.

The Quick Fix

I think we all need to go around asking each other what we are passionate about so at least we start the conversations again. this is the only way we can kick start a new revolution and reevaluation of this lack of passion. It won’t fix everything overnight but at least it is a start

What are you passionate about today.

To discover you passion, I would say for starters would be to start looking for an answer outside of yourself. Self preservation is an automatic seed of passion and a leading factor in why people don’t know what to be passionate about. If we only looked to survive and make enough money to be comfortable mankind as a whole would soon decline and diminished to the ashes of carbon we came from.

Look around and see what in the world bothers you and you think you have an answer or at least some suggestions as to how to fix them. Think of something you want to create that would add beauty and life to the world around you. If all else fails go online and look through some of the charity sites to see what out there strikes you as something you could care about. Not the basic caring but the kind you could lose sleep over at night. this is a good place to find your passion.

Conclusion

As soon as you start giving more of yourself to some great causes or just to life in general you will surely find an awakened spirit within yourself. You will be surprised how fast you can get passionate. It may just make you a better person, better lover, more successful or better yet save your life.

Attention: Self Loathing Monday Haters… STFU!!

Attention: Self Loathing Monday Haters… STFU!!

I am about to loose my mind, there are way too many people bitching about how bad today is going to be because it’s monday. All I can say to that is shut the fuck up. Monday has 24 hours in it they exact sam amount as Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Monday is the same as any other day of the week so why do so many people sit around and cry about how bad Monday is.

Some crazy fact’s about Monday’s Monday is the day most people commit suicide Monday is the day most people call in sick Monday is the day most couples break up

This is more bullshit programming. See the mind once again will make bad things happen the more you focus on them, the people above must have all been Lunedì haters. Somebody told you they hated Mondays when you were a child and you herd it repeatedly throughout you up bringing, you heard in in movie, television and song. The more you heard it the more it got ingrained in your head. Did you never once think to yourself Mondays are not that bad. Maybe these other fucktards are just pussies. It is just another day of the week after all.

I hate loading facebook these days and seeing the countless number of whiney cry babies going on about how hard it is to deal with Mondays. The night before last or even a few day before then somebody sat down at a computer, desk calendar or yes a Moleskine day planner and wrote out a nice list of things to do this Monday, Next Monday and for a few more Mondays to come. However; they did not get to wake up this Monday. Their preverbal ticket got punched yesterday, their number was up. Yet today there are some truly ungrateful bastard who decided to go online today and bitch heavily to whom ever would listen about their shitty dies Lunae.

In my own not so fucking humble opinion, if you have the resources to own a computer, smartphone, an Internet connection ann an education good enough to crafty the marvelous pieces of prose with a detailed account of how you would wish to have your “FML” emotional bullshit served on this glorious first work day of the Germanic calendar your life cannot possibly be all that bad. Again shut your pie-hole.

Many people are left in the pre modern ages because they don’t have access to the tools we take for granted. Many schools in the world have less than five book per classroom. All the students have to either share or take turns learning what we would consider two to three grade levels behind our western academic standards. May you should take some of your angst and sadness and write a play of wondrous depression and other sad stories like “Diablo Cody”. She took her sad days and crafted some of the best characters on television today. If you haven’t seen her work… stop complaining about you shitty day and Google her.

I thought I was the only sadistic bastard who hated people who hate the calendar “M”, until I posted this little number on a facebook status:

Attention: All of you self loathing Monday hating assholes, STFU and just be glad you woke up today. Some people didn’t get to have a Monday today. Learn to Love Your LIFE!!!! Ungrateful Bastards.

I was blown away by the positive responses I got from so many Happy Monday lovers. So many friends and facebookers came by to give their great insights on loving life no matter what day of the week.

I live by a very simple rule and that is nothing has any meaning other than the meaning we choose to give it. If we give the “Big M” a bad wrap by cursing it for sending us back to school and work then of course we will all have the worst days at either school or work. Now If you say Mondays are a new day of a new week and this is you weekly Mulligan or “Do Over” you’ll have a great day. I see Mondays as a day to start over fresh and new for a new week and new opportunities and projects. I call ‘em Kickstart Days or really brag about who did the most insane things to their livers over the weekend day at least.

Ok tomorrow is Tuesday and some of the aforementioned dipshits will be bitching about it too but if you try you got six more day to get next Monday right.

NaNoWriMo: Week 1 is Over

NaNoWriMo: Week 1 is Over

NaNoWriMo week one in finally behind me and I am pretty happy with my progress so far. Here is my current NaNoWriMo Status and i’l be updating it as much as possible at the end of every day.

The Good

I would say the best part of this experience is knowing I set myself a relatively hard goal for a lazy non-write and turtle-like typist like my self and I seem to be progressing along fine. The next thing is I will finally get my book done or pretty close to it. At the end of the month i will surely have more than 50,000 word of my book written and will be closer to publishing it soon.

The Bad

It is hard some days to get motivated to sit down and write. I am also getting a bit sore and bored of being at my desk for countless hours doing the same task and my finger are killing me. I have rune into a few periods of writers block but free writing has got me through it with not too much issue.

Week Two

Knowing what i know from week one I will try to venture out and do more writing on the road and at cafes. I also know i need to sleep more to be ready to tackle writing as brain work is far more tiering than moving muscles. Who Knew? I feel motivated to get at week two full speed and see what come out of it. I have been leaking parts of the writing on this blog and on Facebook. Please leave me your comments, feedback and words of encouragement in the comments section below.

I need your feedback on the blog in general

What the Hell Happened to Halloween?

What the Hell Happened to Halloween?

The name of the blog says it all “In My Sinke”, occasionally there are things i write in my Moleskine that i just need to share with the world. Well straight from the pages of my latest pocket journal is this lovely piece about Halloween.

The Real Halloween

As a wee lad I loved Halloween it was a time to dress up in my costume and go cruising the neighborhood with my two big sisters and my cousin harassing the neighbors for candy and a UNICEF donation. What ever happen to does good old days

The Costumes Mega Stores

The first disappointment with “all hallows eve” is the totally lack of creativity when it comes to the art of disguise. I wanna blame the costume mega-marts but they would not exist if people weren’t so fuckin’ lazy and insistent on this instant gratification disease. Remember the days when people all made their costumes? There was something about spending the month of October creating your All Hallow’s Eve ensemble with the help of mom, family, friends or the dude format the hardware store. Now we walk in and walk out ready to go but with no Halloween soul.

I’m too Cool the wear a costume

Even worse than the microwave costumes are the asshats who think they can just go out and parade around the Halloween festivities and not even wear a costume at all. Why are you too cool to celebrate the best Holiday of the year. At least throw on a homemade mask and try to be in the spirit.

Mall Trick or Treating

Since when did we become so untrusting of each other that we will only take our kids trick or treating at the freaking mall. Really, the mall for a family candy gathering excursion? Wow that just sucks! What will your youngin’s tell their kids for stories of days of Halloween past? Is this the proper legacy for orange day?

Conslusion

Maybe I’m just tripping or going crazy, Tell me what you think about his years Halloween celebrations. Drop me a comment or tweet me.

BTW Happy Freakin’ Halloween

Blog Action Day: It’s all About The Water

Blog Action Day: It’s all About The Water

<

p style=”text-align: center;”>

Today is Blog Action Day, a global awareness project by Change.org about the scarcity of potable drinking water around the world. Did you know that one in eight of us do not have access to the most plentyful recource on the planet clean water. That’s over a billion people right now stuck drinking stagnate, dirty or brackish water.

health and sanitation. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses. 90% of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and unhygienic living conditions are to children under five years old. Many of these diseases are preventable. The UN predicts that one tenth of the global disease burden can be prevented simply by improving water supply and sanitation.

I can’t say I’ve actually look further into this project but having been oversea during my military days when i herd of this  2years ago I jumped in. Please go to some of the partner sites like Charity:Water or Water.org and see what you can do to help.

21 Days To Develop or Break A Habit

21 Days To Develop or Break A Habit

< ?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> < !DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">

I have heard this about a thousand times and maybe you have her it too… It takes 21 days to make or break a habit. Three solid weeks of doing what ever you need to do systematically, religiously and fully committed until the task at hand is no longer a chore or burden but a effortless habit.

How the 21 Day Habit Theory was Born

I have been a reader, consumer, patron and creator of personal development materials since my mid teens. One over arching sentiment in developing a better self image was the 21 day concept that was first introduced by Dr. Maxwell Maltz in a book titled Psycho-Cybernetics he published in 1971. Every Motivational Speaker and Self Help Guru either mentions this concept or just plain outright steal the 21 Day Habit theory for them selves rebranded as some buzz word heavy system.

Originally a Plastic Surgeon, Maltz noticed that it took 21 days for amputees to cease feeling phantom sensations in the amputated limb(s). After some further observations and interactions he found it took 21 days to create a new habit. Since then the ‘21 Day Habit Theory’ has become an accepted as law in personal development circles.

Brain circuits take engrams (memory traces), and produce neuroconnections and neuropathways only if they are bombarded for 21 days in a row. This means that our brain does not accept “new” data for a change of habit unless it is repeated each day for 21 days without missing a single day.

What’s In It For Me?

So This is where I ask you to get a journal (a Moleskine of course) and start writing. Write everyday for 21 days. Hell kill two birds with one stone write about the habit you are going to create or break, start taking the steps to do so and then write daily about how you are progressing.

Oh so you figured that out too… I wasn’t really trying to hide it from you… this is exactly and precisely what is going on here on my In My Skine site. I need to make writing and blogging a habit in order to be a more effective write, blogger and influencer.

Still Curious?
